Hello again! Wow it’s been a weird year, hasn’t it? I honestly have not had the spare emotional energy to get on top of updating our social media outlets. But we’re alive and kicking, and, in such tumultuous times, that’s nothing to be sneezed at. Hoping you are all well, healthy and safe, wherever you are.
Last time I wrote, we were enjoying some winter sun in lovely Dubrovnik, in amongst several Boras (the chilly north east wind here that will blow your socks off!). Our 3 months of visa time came to an end shortly after that, so we scrubbed and cleaned Nightshade till every surface sparkled, packed away all our stuff and flew off to the UK. We spent a few months there, in Germany, and a bit of time in Spain, visiting friends and family and even getting in a bit of work (helping a friend bring his neglected 1500s manor house and garden back to a liveable state – very rewarding!).

We decided to skip this year’s sailing season and keep Nightshade in the marina here in Croatia for another year so we could top up the kitty a bit and be able to do more upgrades on her before heading out again next year. We’re not in any rush, and need to take work opportunities where we can. So we came back a few weeks ago and dove straight into boat projects.

This time of year is gorgeous in Croatia, with temperatures in the mid-20s (degrees Celsius) and cool evenings. We have some storms here and there from the north east (Bora) or south east (Jugo) but they’re comparatively mild to winter’s ones. One of our boat projects was to get our depth sounder we installed during our haul out last year working properly (we’d had to jury-rig it quickly before we left Corfu – long story!), which we achieved today (we can even see cute little fish symbols on our chart plotter now) so I can confidently tell you that the water temperature is 19.5 degrees C.
